7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Habit 1  - Be Proactive has the most meaning to me because I am working on choosing my  re actions  more consciously  rather than blaming  other factors . I can choose the way I behave and not let my behaviors rein over me. Choosing is a superpower that humans have  that other species do not. Animals react but we can contemplate scenarios and choose what we want to do in most situations. We still have natural consequences for  choices,  but  we are  self-aware , have imagination, a conscience, and an independent will.  Over years and years of repetitive reacting, it can be hard to change that programming. It is possible though and we can  be “proactive in every situation  that  arises.”   The 7 habits will help me find passion and purpose because I will be able to know what it is I want to achieve , what to focus on, how to  do it. Achieving private victory and being  the person  I want to become is a huge success. I am working on habit 1 and find it very challenging.  To think abo

Master's Journey

This week’s learning was focused on the  Master’s  Journey  reading  and it resonated with me in many ways. I love the way it helps me r em em ber  that life is not only about achievements.  It is about the process and the journey  we go through . I’ve struggled a lot with the phrase “Joy in the Journey” because life is not always peachy keen and it’s hard to be happy in th ose hard times . But as I get older, I’m starting to find ways to be more present  in  each moment. This helps find good ness in  the  chaos .  I really like the concept of plateaus and climaxes. Many of the ways we were raised  is  to focus on the climaxes and all the achievements.  I did not always enjoy the work I put in to earning awards.  I hated practicing dance  by myself.  I liked the excitement of what came after the hard work – the recognition, the positive affirmations, the attention. What I want to teach my kids is that  every day  we can enjoy the work we put in.  The  plateau   of life  is more me

A Hero's Journey

“The hero’s journey is all about you, but it’s not about you at all.” This quote summarizes very well  what a   clear  life  perspective should  look like .  We get to choose what we do in our lives.  What do I focus my energy on? What goals will I have? It is good to  self-reflect but when that’s the only thing you think about, life becomes unbalanced. If I only think about myself and my bubble around me, I tend to get depressed and self-absorbed. When I look outside, see the world and  all  the people ,   I see more purpose and  fulfillment .  How do I want to treat people?  Will I take the Hero’s  Journey,  or will I take another path filled with looking for happiness in all the wrong places?    “ So,  what does it mean to choose a hero’s journey? It means to live every moment of your life like it matters, because it does.”  Life can get us down and build us up.  All  the se  waves are there to help us learn and find meaning. Every   life has a mission. What is my life goal? All t

Habits, stories, and giving.

This week’s learning about habits was very appealing to me. Habits of success  start small and little by little they become part of your daily routine. I’ve been on a personal journey lately of developing some new daily habits  and starting small has been  really beneficial .  When these small habits are accomplished, a celebration should happen! When you celebrate small successes, it literally helps the habit stick because your brai n is associating it with something you love to do, rather than something you might hate.  Anything is possible, so even if I don’t think I’m the best person to open a business (naturally), I know I can learn what I need to make successful habits and business.  Another concept that I found so interesting is the benefits of communicating through stories. I will apply this storytelling idea with my habits  thought , because I don’t think I’m a very good storyteller, but I want to learn to be better. I know if I start small and  apply  the tips given for telli

Stay centered and focused

This week I learned a lot about having a course and destination in mind so that I can make a plan. I really enjoyed the "phases" outlined in the Launching Leaders reading. Having a goal for where you want to be and what you want to accomplish is so important to success. Otherwise, how do you know if you can see your actions as successful when you don't know what you're working towards? Including God in those "phases" is a key part of aligning our plans for a meaningful life. I love the idea of a daily devotional to keep God centered in decisions. The formula is a game changer for me and is the perfect equation for success. Getting up early is #1 and has been something I have always felt a good thing. I am more of a morning person because I feel inspired to get moving and accomplish things most mornings. Working hard is also part of the formula. If you get far in life without working hard, do you even feel satisfied or happy? Hard work is rewarding! Getting
