Wisdom To Tell

If you had one final lecture to share with a group of students on what you have learned from this course, what would you share?   If I had to give one final lecture about what I’ve learned, I would share the importance of looking inward at yourself, to find your true passion and path.  The entrepreneur's life requires resilience and strength where you know yourself very we ll because if you don’t, you’ll struggle with failures instead of taking them as learning opportunities.  Knowing where you want to end up at the end of your life is a valuable tool for building the life you want. Each step will get you closer to your end goal. When you know yourself and  are satisfied with your efforts  every day , instead of  seeking  the  rush of excitement , you will find meaning and satisfaction.   What would be your last bit of advice to someone wanting to begin  the  entrepreneur journey?   My advice would be to make sure you have an end goal in mind. Work backwards and find the steps yo

Go big or go home

I don't naturally follow the mentality of “go big or go home” but what I've learned with the readings this week is that when you start off at a large company early in your career, and then move to smaller ones over time  and start your own,  you are likely to follow the path of entrepreneurial success. There is so much to learn from the success of a large company. Take it all in and understand how they  got to this point. Then  you can build your own business with a grand perspective.     Another powerful aspect is doing what you feel passionate about. Instead, if you do what you think other people want you to do, you won’t be on a good path to finding the right career.  That will not lead to fulfillment in your job, career, or life. Focusing on what you love to do, what you want to do every day is a whole new world of loving you path. This can be  applied to many aspects of life. We all have the choice to live how we want. What’s the most important thing to you? How do you w

Good Business

"What's a Business For?"      Based on what you read in the first two pages (pages 3 and 4), why are virtue and integrity so vital to an economy?   Virtue and integrity are so vital to an economy because if companies do not have  the customers'  trust, they will not invest their money  with  them.  Many companies are becoming selfish and power/money hungry and when they lose integrity like this, people notice and don’t trust them to invest their money safely.  The economy naturally suffers in this case if people feel better about keeping money under a mattress rather than in a bank or company.     According to Charles Handy, what is the “real justification” for the existence of businesses?   The real justification for business existence is  to make a difference in the world. Business es   need  to make enough money  to carry through with  this purpose. The purpose is not to make money to then make more money. The money is  ne e ded to allow the company to do good an

Money

What is your attitude toward money?   My attitude towards money is that money helps us buy the things we want and need, and I appreciate money very much! Sometimes I  have  what seems to be an abundance and  it's  easy to think I have more to spend. But with  Christmas   coming  I am very glad we have enough to be generous towards other family members and friends.  My husband is a very wise and humble person who gently helps me remember our goals of saving. We have become much more minimalist these days and it feels good not  to have  stuff. Money  is great but like other things, when it’s obsessed over, things turn bad.    How can your view of money affect the way you live?   Money can make you a better person or it can make you a selfish person. When money is not taken  advantage of  and it’s spent with care,  I end up having more to save. I am grateful to be able to choose how I want to help others with my money.  When I see a need to help someone and I want to help them,

Be Yourself

Interviewing a business owner was such a great way for me to get inspired about owning a business one day. I loved learning about the real-life aspects  of the process my friend took to open her business. It helps me learn  and also  helps her understand how far she’s come and see her successes. There were many things I had not thought about and now realize  you  have to  be aware of everything and learn as you go too. Having a business is not going to a  breeze but  requires trying many different things if it’s not quite right until everyt hing is just as it should be. Things will then click into place and systems will be built to sustain it.    Thinking big and realizing  our  potential is unfortunately something many of us  struggle  with.  Instead of focusing on weaknesses, keep pushing forward and big things can happen. We are on a journey to become better and not just pretend to have it all. Changing our  hearts is the most important thing we can do as we try to learn and grow on
