Money

What is your attitude toward money?   My attitude towards money is that money helps us buy the things we want and need, and I appreciate money very much! Sometimes I  have  what seems to be an abundance and  it's  easy to think I have more to spend. But with  Christmas   coming  I am very glad we have enough to be generous towards other family members and friends.  My husband is a very wise and humble person who gently helps me remember our goals of saving. We have become much more minimalist these days and it feels good not  to have  stuff. Money  is great but like other things, when it’s obsessed over, things turn bad.    How can your view of money affect the way you live?   Money can make you a better person or it can make you a selfish person. When money is not taken  advantage of  and it’s spent with care,  I end up having more to save. I am grateful to be able to choose h...

Be Yourself

Interviewing a business owner was such a great way for me to get inspired about owning a business one day. I loved learning about the real-life aspects  of the process my friend took to open her business. It helps me learn  and also  helps her understand how far she’s come and see her successes. There were many things I had not thought about and now realize  you  have to  be aware of everything and learn as you go too. Having a business is not going to a  breeze but  requires trying many different things if it’s not quite right until everyt hing is just as it should be. Things will then click into place and systems will be built to sustain it.    Thinking big and realizing  our  potential is unfortunately something many of us  struggle  with.  Instead of focusing on weaknesses, keep pushing forward and big things can happen. We are on a journey to become better and not just pretend to have it all. Changing our...

Trust

This week I loved the content about building a business around trust. I whole-heartedly agree that the customer is always right, and even though some people will take advantage of this, most will not. Everyone wants and desires to be listened to and heard. To be able to provide an environment that shows a company trusts their customers   can bring great rewards to everyone. Trust starts with “you” and it’s your job to start.  T hen other people will  follow suit and trust you back.  I love Amazon because I know I can return something very easily if I don’t like or change my mind.  I love  the  comparison  given  that trustworthy people are Bakers.  Don’t be an Eater and only focus on eating more pie than the person next to you because the pie is going to run out soon.  Be the Baker and realize you can bake as many pies as you want! Opportunities don’t run out. Opportunities are created wi thout limit.  We are only in compe...

The Hard Road

What stands out to me from this week's reading is Elder Holland's talk about the long hard road. Life is not going to be easy. There are going to be a lot of bumps. Things will need fixing and a lot of work will be required. Life could be  pretty dang  miserable if you let it be. But that's the point of his message. We have control of our perspective and when we see things from the eyes of our future  selves, we can gain an added energy to get us through the hard stuff.  Good things will come.   I also like the idea of  using  everyday like it’s your last. I’m not sure I would be very good at this, but I have a feeling most people would say the same thing.  If I was told I have cancer and don’t have much time left to live, what would I do with my  time.  Naturally I would probably get a bit depressed but hopefully I ’d be able to snap out of the bad mood soon and be able to start making a difference. Would I want to spend time with my fa...

7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Habit 1  - Be Proactive has the most meaning to me because I am working on choosing my  re actions  more consciously  rather than blaming  other factors . I can choose the way I behave and not let my behaviors rein over me. Choosing is a superpower that humans have  that other species do not. Animals react but we can contemplate scenarios and choose what we want to do in most situations. We still have natural consequences for  choices,  but  we are  self-aware , have imagination, a conscience, and an independent will.  Over years and years of repetitive reacting, it can be hard to change that programming. It is possible though and we can  be “proactive in every situation  that  arises.”   The 7 habits will help me find passion and purpose because I will be able to know what it is I want to achieve , what to focus on, how to  do it. Achieving private victory and being  the person  I want to...

Master's Journey

This week’s learning was focused on the  Master’s  Journey  reading  and it resonated with me in many ways. I love the way it helps me r em em ber  that life is not only about achievements.  It is about the process and the journey  we go through . I’ve struggled a lot with the phrase “Joy in the Journey” because life is not always peachy keen and it’s hard to be happy in th ose hard times . But as I get older, I’m starting to find ways to be more present  in  each moment. This helps find good ness in  the  chaos .  I really like the concept of plateaus and climaxes. Many of the ways we were raised  is  to focus on the climaxes and all the achievements.  I did not always enjoy the work I put in to earning awards.  I hated practicing dance  by myself.  I liked the excitement of what came after the hard work – the recognition, the positive affirmations, the attention. What I want t...
